Why I joined the BandVegan?

                                           Why I joined the BandVegan?

As a child too, could not develop a taste for non vegetarian food. When I grew up, whenever I saw, non-vegetarian food, felt the animal's screams, protests to let live. Couldnt stop from asking, "which animal was killed?" Have wondered, can human beings behave so cruelly? Cant they hear the protests? The poor animal cries hoarse pitiably. Cant the slaughterer hear? It is his job? Who decide to choose such a heinous job? Mother Earth designed the ecological cycle. Man has taken the liberty of understanding and applying it illogically.

YouSign Pets added a new video.

Thank you God! Feel the hurt of  the animals more than the taste. Ashamed of my species.
In the words of one animal activist:"I know many great vegans who were non-vegetarians before and have turned vegans on realizing the realities of meat and dairy industries.
My respects and love to them all.....
But I do not respect anti-vegans in the guise of animal lovers, who know everything, still want to promote dairy and meat to help the humans who are in the business of exploiting animals.
These are double standard people without clear understanding and ethics.
I wonder if these people are paid by the dairy & meat industry mafia!?!".
Used to be crazy about dairy based sweets. When I Saw the video where new born caves are starved, so that we can have our daily milk. The hungry moans of the calves, ring in my ears, whenever someone offers a dairy product

Becoming vegan is not just good for our health, good for the calves, the

planet. It also reduces the incidence of mal practices, that are carried

out, in order sell more dairy products, usually carcinogenic hormones,

urea, anything  to sell milk and milk products.

All Religions point to one God.

All Religions point to one God
Being a Hindu Brahmin, wish to start with the customs and rituals pertaining to Hinduism.
Animal sacrifice is misinterpretation of the real meaning. The religion in the scriptures advocates that God is omnipresent. This includes the sacrificial animal as well. The scriptures, analysed deeper wants its followers to sacrifice the animal(behavior in each one of us, be it horse, goat, chicken or any other innocent being). Instead of being kind and loving to the beautiful creation of God. We torture the animal, with loud music,  unnecessary decorations like vermillion and garlands. Does the God(dess) ask for such sacrifice? Cant we think for ourselves? Someone says God(dess) appeared and wanted such and such being to "taste"? Will someone want to feast on one's own child? We pray to God(dess) for our wants.Does (S)He need us to fulfill His/Her taste cravings? Doesnt the sight of poor animal being slaughtered, hurt the conscience?

Caste System:Who has divided people? In Bhagvad Gita, Lord Krishna classified on the basis of one's profession/action. If an upper caste human behaves in the most degrading manner, why should he be called as one belonging to "upper" caste? The caste should be decided and fixed on the basis of one's conduct. Doesnt it sound absurd, when a person of low caste has a heart of gold, while a person of an uppercaste has a heart of muck. Caste has become a toy in the hands of corrupt politicians. People get agitated easily, the moment their caste is tarnished. Why do we not think  a little deeper? The greedy corrupt politicians instigate caste related sentiments to attract votes. Is it going to benefit people irrespective of caste? Is it Dividing the people and the country? Will the country stand to gain by stressing on casteism? Any sane person can see through the selfish greedy motive when they instigate voters on the basis of caste and religion.
India is a land of saints. Legend has it, that even Jesus Christ came to India, rechristened as Yeshu Nath. Practised Hinduism and Buddhism. Saint Meerabai, Sang in Her hymn, "Remove the veil(of ignorance) and you will meet Your Lord. God resides in every being, treat respectfully".
In Hinduism, an important misconcception is that there are 30 million Gods n Goddesses. The Creator is Formless, everywhere and can assume the form decided by the believer.
Hinduism is a very deep Religion. Rituals, customs have scientific significance. It is not related to caste. All that is man-made for vested interests.
Please comment and queries are welcome. Gives an opportunity to study the Religion from that angle. Hinduism is the most ancient religion. What is practised today is not the entire truth. Every act has a deep scientific explanation.

Wanted to include all the religions in one post, it can become lengthy and as it deals with religions and sentiments, extra caution is required. Will study, ask friends following that particular religion. Double check and then pen/type my thoughts.

Asato ma sudgamaya - Lead me from falsehood to Truth
Tamaso ma Jyotirgamaya- Lead me from darkness(ignorance) to         Light(Wisdom)
Mrutyor ma Amrutam gamaya - Living thus in Truth and Wisdom, ensure that my Liberation/Salvation becomes automatic and easy.

Aum Saha naavavatu Saha naubhunaktu Saha veeryam karvaava hai

2: May God Nourish us Both,
3: May we Work Together with Energy and Vigour,
4: May our Study be Enlightening and not give rise to Hostility,

Sri Gayatri Mantra-
A very powerful mantra. Can protect and bless with wisdom, simultaneously. The mantra ensures all round protection, chant with feeling of reverence.1) Five elements, Earth, Water, Fire, air and Space.

 Swarna Ssr's video.

2)Five Sense organs- Ear, Skin, View, taste and smell. 3)The five types of heat energy within each one of us.4)The five sheaths of body covering the blissful soul
5)Mind, Intellect, Ego and their intelligent Selfless interplay.
Surrender everything for servicing, overhauling and rejuvenating on a daily basis.

Aum Bhuh Bhuvah Svaahaa
Tat Savitur Varenyum,
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi,
Dheeyo yo nah: prachodyat.

The Gayatri Mantra inspires wisdom in us.  In very basic but beautiful language, it says "May the divine light of the Supreme Being illuminate our intellect, to lead us along a path of righteousness".

The Vedas say:
To chant the Gayatri Mantra
purifies the chanter.
To listen to the Gayatri Mantra
purifies the listener.
But the mantra does more, as I found out. It opens up your heart. And how well we know, when both our minds and our hearts open, we open ourselves up for new possibilities.

For many devout Hindus, the Gayatri is seen as a Divine awakening of the individual mind and the individual soul – Atman -- and within it, a way to Union with the collective consciousness - Brahman. Understanding and simply loving the essence of the Gayatri Mantra is considered by many to be one of the most powerful ways to touching God.

One interpretation is that the word Gayatri is derived from the words:
  • gaya, meaning “vital energies” and
  • trâyate, meaning “preserves, protects, gives deliverance, grants liberation”.
So, the two words "Gayatri Mantra" might be translated as “a prayer of praise that awakens the vital energies and gives liberation and deliverance from ignorance”.

The shorter form of the Gayatri is practiced far more commonly:

“OM BUHR, BHUVA, SWAHA
OM TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASYA DHEEMAHI
DHIYO YONAHA PRACHODAYAT”

We meditate on the glory of the Creator;
Who has created the Universe;
Who is worthy of Worship;
Who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
Who is the remover of Sin and Ignorance;
May He open our hearts and enlighten our Intellect.

The longer version is more profound.

“OM BHUR, OM BHUVAHA, OM SWAHA, OM MAHAHA, OM JANAHA, OM TAPAHA, OM SATYAM
OM TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASYA DHEEMAHI
DHIYO YONAHA PRACHODAYAT”

According to the Vedas, there are seven realms or spheres or planes of existence, each more spiritually advanced than the previous one.  It is written that through spiritual awareness and development, we can progressively move through these realms and ultimately merge with the Supreme Being. Many Buddhist teachings have also referred to these seven realms.

By chanting this mantra, Divine spiritual light and power is infused in each of our seven chakras and connects them to these seven great spiritual realms of existence.

Benefits to chanting the Gayatri (Excerpts from the CD and grateful acknowledgements to Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya)

The sages of ancient times selected the words of the Gayatri carefully and arranged them so that they not only convey meaning but also create very specific vibrations and powers of righteous wisdom through their utterance.  Hindu Vedic scriptures describe how many of these sages accumulated tremendous spiritual powers through years of deep meditation and the chanting of the Gayatri – these spiritual powers are called Siddhi.

It is said that these Gayatri Sadhaka (spiritual seeker) begin to feel the presence of divine power in the inner self which induces immense strength and peace of mind.

According to the late Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya, "The rishis and sages of the Vedic Age had experienced and experimented on the enormous extrasensory energy pools – the chakras, upachakras, granthis, koshas, matakas, upayatikas and nadis, hidden in the subtle cores in the endocrine glands, nerve bundles and ganglions. It is said that the activation of these rekindles rare virtuous talents and supernormal potential.

Scientists, meta-physicists, spiritual practitioners and others are studying and rediscovering these ancient approaches towards self-realization.

The secret of the supernatural impact of Gayatri Mantra in the physical domains of life lies in the unique configuration of the specific syllables of the mantra. The cyclic enunciation of this mantra stimulates the subliminal power centers in the subtle body. The pressure on tongue, lips, vocal cord, palate and the connecting regions in the brain generated by continuous enunciation of the twenty-four special syllables of the Gayatri Mantra creates a resonance (or a vibration) in the nerves and the ‘threads’ of the subtle body. The musical flow thus induced titillates the extrasensory energy centers. The latter begin to stimulate and a sublime magnetic force arouses in the Sadhaka that attracts the vital currents of Gayatri Shakti immanent in the infinite domains. This magnetic charge induced by the continuous repetition of the Gayatri Mantra ‘attunes’ the seeker’s mind to link with these supernatural power-currents."

It is significant that the prolonged repetition of the Gayatri has a cumulative effect on our bodies and our minds.  Our minds are sharper, our immune system is stronger, and our hearts are open.  When our energy centers, including our main Chakras, are activated by the vibrations of the Gayatri mantra, this has a positive and healing effect on our life force energy – on our Prana.

The Gayatri can be listened to, chanted, or even thought. There is power and potency in all three approaches.  Choose the approach that you are most comfortable with.

The Meaning of the Gayatri Mantra (Text of Track 5)

If you intend to chant the Gayatri mantra, it is quite important that you chant it with the correct pronunciation and with the deepest integrity of intent. This of course, means that one needs to know the meaning of the words behind the mantra.  The Sanskrit words of the Gayatri carry tremendous power when chanted correctly and with the purest of hearts.
Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha  (Om Bhoor Bhoova Swa-Ha)
Om Tat Savitur Varenyam  (Om Tat Sa-Vidoor Va-rain-yam)
Bhargo Devasya Deemahi  (Bhaargo They-Vas-Ya Dee-Mahi)
Deeyo Yo Naha, Prachodayaat  (Thee-Yo Yo-Na-Ha, Pra-Cho-Da-Yaat)
OM is considered the primeval sound from which all sounds emerge.
OM is Brahma and a metaphor for Source Energy or the Supreme Being.
Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha is actually a preamble to the main mantra and means that we invoke in our prayer and meditation the One who is our inspirer, our creator and who is the abode of supreme Joy.  It also means, we invoke the earthly, physical world, the world of our mind, and the world of our soul.
Tat Savitur Varenyam……Tat meaning THAT, again denoting the Supreme Being.  Savitur meaning the radiating source of life with the brightness of the Sun; and Varenyam, meaning that most adorable, most desirable.
Bhargo Devasya Deemahi……Bhargo meaning luster and splendor, Devasya meaning Divine or Supreme and Deemahi meaning “We meditate upon”.
Deeyo Yo Naha, Prachodayaat……Deeyo meaning our understanding of reality, our intellect, our intention.  Yo meaning He Who, and Naha meaning Our. Finally, Prachodayaat, meaning May he Inspire, Guide.
Put together, we could say:
“We meditate on that most adorable, desirable and enchanting luster and brilliance of our Supreme Being, our Source Energy, our Collective Consciousness….who is our creator, inspirer and source of eternal Joy.  May this warm and loving Light inspire and guide our mind and open our hearts.”
Isn’t that awe inspiring?

Now that you are armed with your own unique inner wisdom of what the Gayatri mantra means for you, and an understanding of the Sanskrit words, perhaps you may wish to write your own personal interpretation of this wonderful prayer.

My blessings and well-wishes as you do so.

Where Is God?

                                                         Where is God?
Has anyone seen God? Look at any natural creation. Who created us, the beautiful flora and the fauna around us. Do we expect God to Come with His Business Card? Why should He? He does not need us. We do need Him for every breath. Lets' recall Leo Tolstoy's story about three visitors. A beautiful example, where God proves that He can come UnAnnounced and in any form.

God is everywhere, we believe it when in school. As we grow up, we forget it. Our soul within, vacates the dwelling, we call the body. What is this soul? By any chance, is it God? It could a spark of a fireball called God. When the soul is within a person feels all powerful. When it leaves the body, the body is disposed off to avoid decay and decomposition. How powerful must the soul be! From Where does it enter and where does it go?
Wish to explore how every religion wants their followers to be "good human beings".

Similarly, Christian religious dogmatism, with its god and invented savior, cleverly situated beyond our mere earthly domain. The 'only son of God' dogma ...

Lighter moment: A teacher asks a student, "Show me any place, where God exists?" The student counter questions, "Show me any place, where God doesnt?"
Coming back, Humanity created Religion(for becoming better human being). Unfortunately, humanity uses Religion to breed hatred, differences among religions. Worse, one religion is used against the others to strike a discord, why one religion cant accept or tolerate the other. The whole purpose of religion, is therefore defeated.

Work-Life Balance

                                        Work- Life Balance

All of us in the age group of early 20s to mid 60s are engaged in earning a livelihood. Often, if anyone in this age-group does not look employed, eyebrows are raised. Why are we concerned about employment? We take pride in saying That so and so leaves early, comes back late. Actually, we wish to show that the person is hard working. How wonderful would it sound, if that person divides his day between earning for livelihood, helping at home, Spending quality time, pursuing what one wishes to achieve. Isnt this what life is all about?
Young couples career-oriented, marry and realise they consider their career more important. Divorce.
Incase, there is a child, whose responsibility should it be? Reason for divorce.
Husband away from family involved in providing for family. The children grow bullying the only parent who has the sole responsibility of bringing up children.  Father, overcome by guilt brings home most expensive stuff, even if, the children are not mature enough for them.
The third issue faced is, all through the youthful, energetic life is spent in slogging to earn a decent living. When age is not in favour, health issues and family time issues make our coffers empty. We earn so that we can spend when we cant earn anymore! Ironic, isnt it?

Why do Students copy?!?

                            Why do Students Copy?
Examinations, are to test our level of understanding, the subject at hand. That is something which all of us know. Trying to think deeper, is that all? There is more to it. While writing the exam, our ingenuity, sincerity, honesty, everything is put to test. The Actual Examiner, is not particular about how much we score. How have we scored whatever, we have is His concern.

It so happens, those who cheat thus make cheating a life-long habit. All the corrupt people, alas, the world is full of them. are invariably the ones who have been cheating all along. Those who cheat, do not acknowledge the omnipresence of The EXAMINER. Their behaviour, attitude, dealings speak about their awareness. They cant face their own conscience. So, dont face it. As simple as that? We all are well aware that nothing in this world, comes for free. How can corruption, copying cheating come for free? Whatever we get for free, we pollute, air, water, environment...We are given full freedom to be honest, sincere, kind and compassionate...See, how it is misused!

While doing Ashtaanga Yoga course, the first two are the most important, among the eight rungs. They are the Yamas and Niyams. These instill self discipline. A true Yogi/Yogin is one who has tremendous self restraint. If one truly delve deeper, will realisation dawn, strict adherence can make miracle, a common place. One neednt do any exceptional efforts, towards making things happen. They happen naturally.
